Article

Holiday season is here, and the Cohesion team is focused on ending the year strong! We are delivering enhancements to our customers’ most useful features like service requests and expanding our library of integrations for access control and occupancy.  Customers will have more flexible options from our enhanced access framework that accounts for use cases with multiple systems. We are thankful for our customers and their commitment to the best smart building innovation and technology!

Flex Space Update: Booking from Floor Map

Last month we launched flex space and hot desking, which provides tenants the ability to find a “flex desk” at the office and book it from their mobile phone, instantly reserving custom space to work. Now users can make their reservation directly from a map of desks, organized by floor. This makes the process more convenient for users looking to book the right space for the day, especially if you are interested in a desk with a window view. From this map, you can also see which desks are available or reserved, and by whom. Collaboration with teammates is made easy with the capability to see where your colleagues are sitting for the day and choose a desk next to the rest of your team.

Service Request Escalation Notifications

The service request feature now has escalation notifications to ensure leaky faucets don’t become flooded floors. When a service request is filed, it now includes easy-to-follow business rules to notify key building roles or individuals. If the request is not acted on within a customized time frame, it will be escalated to the next tier of building roles or individuals. Escalation notification rules can be set up to match a specific service request subtype, with as many escalation thresholds and timeframes required to ensure the prioritized request is resolved.

Access Control for Enterprise Framework

We’ve expanded the access control framework to include support for multiple access systems – the most significant update to this framework since its initial launch. To meet the specific needs of an enterprise setting, the framework now allows the same unified access management experience for buildings that have more than one access system. Tenant users at a building with one base access control system for lobby turnstiles and a different system for the office suite will have curb-to-desk experiences powered by their single mobile keycard.  No need for additional logins or training, just the same easy-to-use Cohesion experience.

Our unified access control framework enables buildings to connect to any access control system available in our deep library of OEM certified, pre-built integrations. Customers don’t need to purchase new proprietary hardware or rip and replace existing systems to benefit from features like one-touch mobile keycard, integrated visitor management, centralized user access management, and Occupancy Insights Dashboards.

Schindler Elevators and Access Control Integration

Cohesion now offers mobile access integration with Schindler elevators as a Certified Schindler partner. Schindler elevators come with dedicated access control functionality + an independent list of users and permissions, which has also been integrated with the Cohesion unified access control feature. Any Cohesion user at a building with Schindler elevators can call an elevator to their home floor when entering from the lobby and access permissioned floors from their mobile app for a truly touchless, smart building experience.

Keyscan Aurora Users and Mobile Keycard Integration

We have launched our newest access control system integration, Keyscan Aurora. Buildings with the Keyscan Aurora access control systems at their buildings can use the Cohesion touchless mobile keycard to provide credentialed access to building spaces for their staff and tenant company users.  This is all available without the use of additional hardware, relays, or work-arounds – no 3rd parties needed. Welcome Keyscan Aurora to the largest native access control library in the industry, powered by Cohesion!

Open Options Occupancy Insights Update

Earlier this summer we launched the Open Options mobile keycard feature. As an enhancement to this integration, Cohesion customers with the Open Options access control system in their buildings will automatically receive occupancy insights. Entry event data of people accessing the building is normalized and visualized on the Occupancy Insights Dashboard. Management staff uses these metrics and charts to better understand occupancy trends over time, like what days and times are busiest and which tenant companies are at the building.  Without the need for additional partners, our customers can retain fast and accurate occupancy data and insights.

Sensor-based Occupancy Insights Dashboard: Butlr Integration

We enhanced the Occupancy Dashboard live sensor view with a new integration into Bultr motion sensors. Different from access-based occupancy insights that utilizes keycard scans for occupancy data, sensor-based occupancy insights provide more accurate traffic data that includes entry and exit info within a space. It excludes the unique identity information included in an keycard scan access system, yet flexible enough to measure activity in several different types of space settings. The sensor-based Occupancy Insights Dashboard provides snapshots of traffic and heatmaps of activity over time. Data from the Bultr sensors are aggregated by predefined building spaces, such as lobbies, common areas, conference rooms and fitness centers.

Tip of the Month: Accessing your Smart Building Data

All feature-level data on the Cohesion platform is accessible via the data query section of the desktop app. Building management teams looking to use feature and integration data for their own formal reports and data insights can access this information on demand. Easy-to-run queries produce CSV formatted files that can be exported for a variety of data analyses. Use the dropdown fields in any combination - available by feature, building, and date – to produce the right data set for your needs. No need to file a customer service request or generate API keys, your building’s smart data made simple.
